Sustainable comfort: hands-on volunteers create wooden pallet furniture

The break room inside our French branche at Biache-Saint-Vaast had already been refurbished, but the exteriors still needed some work. Rather than buying new furniture, a workshop was organized to help volunteers make the required furniture with recycled wooden pallets. Our employees can now take their break outside while enjoying comfortable and sustainable tables and benches.

At our Finimetal site the ‘Quality of life at work’ team is constantly engaged to implement significant actions aimed at improving the quality of life at work. On May 23rd and 24th the team organized a pallet wood furniture workshop so that together they could create new furniture for the collective outdoor resting corners. The result is a beautiful collection of comfortable tables and benches that contribute to a better quality of life for all employees.

Teamwork leads to a sustainable solution

The team behind the initiative is proud of the result and rightly so. During a period of low activity they brought together hands-on volunteers from every division to improve the outdoor spaces. In just a few days they turned recycled wooden pallets into a set of design furniture that’s both comfortable and sustainable. “A pile of pallets and a good team full of ideas turned out to be the perfect recipe for creating attractive resting corners for us all here at the Finimetal plant”, says Nathalie Wieczorek, Credit Control Assistant.
